Vedie Himsl Avitus Bernard "Vedie" Himsl (April 2, 1917 – March 15, 2004) was an American baseball coach and scout. He was born in Plevna, Montana. == Career== A right-handed pitcher in minor league baseball in his playing days (1938–1942; 1946; 1950–1951), Himsl served as a coach of the Chicago Cubs from 1960 through 1964. In 1961 he became the first manager to participate in Philip K. Wrigley's College of Coaches plan. The idea was that all of the team's coaches would rotate as manager. Himsl posted a 10–21 won-loss record.〔(【引用サイトリンク】publisher=Saint John's University )〕 When he retired from the Cubs organization in 1985 he was the team's director of scouting. He continued to live in Chicago until his death in 2004. He is a member of the class of 1938 of College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University.〔
